GIAMBATTISTA VALLI – EXTRAVAGANT VOLUMES AND ETHERIC ROMANTICS
Liliya Zheleva
Designer Giambattista Valli is one of the most famous artists of the fashion scene in recent years. His collections of high fashion and ready to wear are presented annually during the fashion week in Paris.
Born and raised in Rome, he completed his high school education and received a degree in art. In 1987 he began an illustration course at the College of Art and Design in London, Central Saint Martins. Returning to Italy, he worked for two years in Roberto Capucci's studio, and then in 1990 Fendi invited him to be their chief designer for their new Fendissime line. In 1995, Giambattista Valli moved to Milan, where she was appointed Chief Designer of a fashion collection of "Christia". Two years later he returns to Paris, the city that respects his teen years and where he has the opportunity to combine his pre-a-porter and haut-couture sensations, meeting Emmanuel Ungaro. He headed his design studio until 2001 until the management appointed him as creative director of the premier line of Ungaro Fever.
Several years later, Giambattista Valli released her own collection and in March 2005 she held her first independent fashion show in Paris. After opening his headquarters in the historic building where Jean-Baptiste Lully once lived, Valley opened his first store on Boissy d'Anglas Boulevard in the same building in December 2010. 150 square meters of space is where the designer has ready to wear collections, skins and accessories, including shoes, bags and jewelery.
More than six years after its branding, in July 2011, Giambattista Valli shows its first collection of "high fashion". Currently, he presents his current proposals four times a year during the fashion week in Paris. The designer also designs the same line of accessories and leather clothing, concluding a deal with the Italian manufacturer of leather products Ciwifurs and designed a line for the most ancient manufacturer of Moncler sports jackets. He is one of the few French designers who have joined the historic Chamber of Trade Unions, including Giorgio Armani, Donatella Versace and Eli Saab.
From 2012, his dresses have scarred over 100 red carpets on an ever-expanding list of celebrities such as Lupida Nyongo, Jessica Biel, Penelope Cruz, Natalie Portman, Amy Adams, Julianne Moore, Sarah Jessica Parker, Hilary Swank, Demi Moore, Diane Krueger, Hali Berry, Zoe Saldana, Brook Shields, Reese Witherspoon, Naomi Campbell, Mary Kate Olsen and others. "He has a soul of a poet," says his close friend, 82-year-old legend of society, Lee Rajsville, who is a doyen in sisterhood from the designer's clients and friends, who are so dedicated that the fashion press calls them "the girls of the Valley". Among them are Princess Rania of Jordan, Princess Klotilde Kurao, and film stars such as Salma Hayek and Diane Krueger. "The Giambattista loves women, and I mean, because we do not all fit in a standard-size model, his clothes flatter the female shape. They make us feel beautiful! Says Kruger.
"Giambattista Valli" is sold in 240 stores in 41 countries around the world. It is impressive that Valley reaches this stage without being an heirloom designer, with a family standing behind him or through support from advertisers and conglomerates. He builds his name entirely alone - a fact that makes it unique to the generation of designers. "I love the idea of being an outsider, but do you know how much does this freedom cost? It is very expensive! I am self-financing and I have to work a lot. Luckily, I do not do this job to be a billionaire. I do it because I love my work with women, "says Wally. "I do not dress up someone I do not like. My "no" list is longer than my "yes" list. My biggest compliment I received from Lee Rajsvil before long - she said that what she loved in me was that I was not a snob. I work only with what I like, as there are many famous people I do not want to work with, "added the designer. Millie is impressed by women who treat their clothes in an individual way. For example, once at a party when Valli meets Margherita Missoni, at first he cannot even understand that she is wearing his dress.
Millie likes to read books and considers them to be his dose of opium. It has a collection of hundreds of books, especially for fashion, filled with pages of stunning celebrity dresses and models, as well as beautiful pictures taken by amazing photographers. The Muse of Valley is revolving around curiosity, but the inspiration that comes to him is closely related to the attractiveness of women - imaginary or real - from the Red Riding Hood to Peggy Guggenheim.
