Our unique female athlete Ivet Lalova became a BG Fashion Icon, receiving her prize personally from Prof. Lubomir Stoykov - Chairman of the Academy of Fashion. The traditional annual award for the most stylish and successful Bulgarians (in the Sport category) was awarded for both her outstanding sprinting achievements and her impeccable visual culture, professional reputation and striking style. When she received the award, Ivet Lalova expressed her gratitude to Prof. Lubomir Stoykov, emphasizing: “Thank you to the Academy of Fashion for this award! It is an honour for me to accept it. I know that it is not only for being a fashion icon, but also for professionalism. I hope it brings me even more luck next year! "

The awarding of the statuette, made by jeweller Angelo Krasini, took place at the National Art Gallery. Ivet Lalova was accompanied by her husband Simone Colio. Our European champion and this year's winner of BG Fashion Icon was wearing a Bulgarian dress. The dress was made by Elena Zlateva - winner of the Golden Needle bythe Academy of Fashion for “Best Young Designer”. She captures the attention with her black and white sequins and fringes. The skirt is cut into geometric shapes typical for Elena Zlateva, complete with graphic effects, and the upper part is transformed into a hand-knitted corset. The outfit was completed with the usual back accent.

The other winners of this year's Academy of Fashion ranking for the most stylish and successful Bulgarians are: Raina Kabaivanska, Vasil Petrov, Tsvetanka Rizova, Poli Genova, Ivaylo Zahariev, Maxim Behar and Boyana Sharlopova.
