DURABLE FASHION DURING SUMMER 2020 - WITH A MESSAGE TO SAVE THE PLANET
Spring-summer collections by „Gucci“, „Dior“ и „Louis Vuitton“

The fact is that the fashion industry is one of the biggest polluters on our planet. The problem of overproduction and overconsumption of fashion goods has prompted brands to unite around a common cause, with the message to save the planet. For its spring / summer 2020 collection, Gucci declared carbon neutrality, Dior conducted its review among trees to be transplanted after the show, and Louis Vuitton abandoned plastic and installed wooden seats fitted with sustainably grown pine forests in the French region of Landes, which will then be used for other purposes.
Alessandro Michele has always been a provocateur. On the eve of his fifth anniversary as creative director of Gucci, he decided to take the brand to another dimension and present a spring / summer 2020 collection under the motto: "Fashion has a function: to allow people to go through areas of opportunity, to sacralize any form of diversity, to nurture indispensable self-determination skills."
At a press conference, the designer said that he is always trying something new in fashion because he is afraid of getting bored, but the beginning of this Gucci show was described by critics as perhaps the most outrageous so far. The red-lit room suddenly turned white, the large metal doors opened, and 21 models wearing white overalls paraded on the catwalk. The shocking thing was that the lights went out abruptly and a completely different parade began. The second part of Michele's proposals was dominated by black, which he had avoided until now. In this collection, the designer opted for more sophisticated cuts, slender silhouettes in clean color palettes, instead of bright prints. Most surprising to all was the sexual motive in the line.
The proposals of Louis Vuitton and Nicolas Ghesquière have always taken us through different periods. For this collection, the designer has set the time machine for the Bell Epoch era, with the following references: shirt sleeves, various iris buttonholes, green jacquard coat, picturesque flowers in elegant simple dresses and a great classic leather jacket, hand-painted with angelic faces. "This is part of French history, which is very interesting in both art and culture, in terms of women's emancipation and, of course, in the literature with Proust," he said. This is also a period that coincides with the birth of the Louis Vuitton fashion house.
